Circulatory System
Watch the video below to have an idea of what our circulatory system is and how it works.
Summary Respiratory System
The human respiratory system is made up of of the following parts and their functions.
- nose - allows air to enter and exit the body
- windpipe - transport air to the lungs and away from the lungs
- diaphragm - relaxes/ contracts to make chest bigger or smaller
- lungs (contain air sacs)-- allow oxygen to enter the blood and carbon dioxide to leave
Fish respiratory system
- Gills - Water carrying dissolved oxygen enters the mouth and passes through the gills. Gills take in oxygen.
Plant respiratory system
- Stomata - tiny openings found mostly on the underside of leaves where gaseous exchange takes place. Found mainly on the underside of leaves to reduce the amount of water loss.
- Respiration takes place throughout the day and night.

Fish respiratory system
We looked at the respiratory system of fish. We've learnt that the gill cover protects the layers of gills. The gills are red in colour due to the presence of blood in the gills. A fish takes in water from the mouth and as water flows over the gills, oxygen in the water is taken in by the blood vessels and carbon dioxide from the blood is dissolved in the water. The water will then flow out of the gills.
Here are some photos taken during the activity.
